    • Continuing to diversify the membership of our Boards, Committees, Commissions and City Administration, so our workforce and community representatives better reflect the people they serve.
    • Working to overhaul the role that policing plays in our emergency response, sending experts and decriminalizing crises driven by mental health, addictions, poverty, and homelessness.
    • Building an increasingly equitable city over time characterized by complete communities that are engines of diverse economic opportunities, vibrant cultural expression and deep social inclusivity.

  • I believe climate action and sustainability must be at the forefront of all of Council’s decisions. Every component of my Rise Together platform is a commitment to climate action. 

    If re-elected, I am committed to explicit advocacy on climate action in the following areas: 

    • Continuing to invest in public transit, including the full build-out of the Green Line, the delivery of the Route Ahead, and the return to pre-COVID levels of service as soon as possible.
    • Meeting and exceeding our multi-modal transportation targets through the establishment of generational investments in the Accessibility, Livable Streets, and 5A Network Fund.
    • Continuing to introduce and reinforce policies and investments that support the increasing redevelopment of existing communities, rather than continued unsustainable growth on the City’s edge. 
    • Implementing a Calgary Carbon Budget, modelled off Edmonton’s policy, which refocuses financial decision-making within a carbon accounting framework.
    • Designing and delivering a broad suite of programs, like the Clean Energy Improvement Program and the Renfrew Solar Garden, under Calgary’s Climate Resilience Strategy to facilitate energy efficiency and carbon reduction throughout residential, commercial and industrial sectors. 
    • Committing to a climate leadership position through active membership in international coalitions, like the Cities Race to Zero and third party verification to audit our progress. 
    • Understanding the relationship between poverty reduction and climate action to help secure a prosperous and just recovery for everyone coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    • Continuing to support the fundamental restructuring of City Hall into an organization focused on the delivery of a great city of great neighbourhoods through community-embedded, interdisciplinary teams of civil servants. 
    • Piloting a new multi-community, multi-stakeholder local governance framework in the communities of Greater Forest Lawn, as a first step towards overhauling Calgary’s community associations and supercharging grass-roots democracy.
    • Committing to the development and redevelopment of all publicly-owned buildings as a network of mixed-use Integrated Civic Facility Community Hubs offering as needed wrap-around social supports in every neighbourhood.
    • Striking a better balance between the City’s role as regulator, with opportunities to cut red tape and actively facilitate great outcomes for industry, communities and individuals. 
    • Embracing the City’s responsibility to pilot and facilitate the emergence of new markets and industries, in partnership with the private sector as we deliver increasing diversification of Calgary’s economy. 
    • Committing to a broad suite of improvements to our democratic processes to increase access and quality for all citizens, such as building upon our hybrid in-person/virtual system for all city engagements - including Council and Committee Hearings.

    If re-elected, I am committed to advocating for the following: 

    • Completing the build-out and funding of the Indigenous Relations Office at the City of Calgary.  
    • Achieving a deep structural commitment by the City of Calgary to Truth & Reconciliation and the White Goose Flying Report
    • Building a more robust and formalized relationship with Treaty 7 First Nations.
    • Supporting Indigenous communities to identify and plan for an appropriate and significant Indigenous Gathering Place and ensuring it is funded. 
    • Supporting efforts for the formal recognition of St. Dunstan School as a former residential school site and ensuring appropriate memorialization is funded.

  • To ensure we build the city we want to become, I believe we must make critical generational investments in Calgary’s best future.

    If re-elected, I am committed to advocating for the establishment of five dedicated, year-over-year, funds that will appear as line items on our tax bills. 

    These funds are: 

    1. The Downtown Revitalization Fund: to attract new investments and innovative industries.
    2. The MainStreets and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Fund: to build vibrant, transit-connected neighbourhoods across Ward 9. 
    3. The Accessibility, Livable Streets and 5A Network Fund: to increase accessibility and safety of Ward 9 neighbourhoods through different modes of transportation, like walking, cycling and public transit.
    4. The Parks, Recreation, and Culture Fund: to grow and maintain `Calgary’s vibrant public spaces.
    5. The Community Safety Investment Framework Fund: to ensure Ward 9 communities are safe and connected to 'next-gen' integrated support services.

  • I believe reliable, accessible and affordable public transit is the backbone of our best future. It supports our transition towards climate sustainability, shapes how we design our city, drives economic diversification and investment and moves us closer to a more equitable city.  

    If re-elected, I am committed to advocating for the following: 

    • Ensuring the complete build-out of the Green Line. This has been a top priority for me since I was first elected in 2010.  
    • Making certain the federal government’s commitments to year-over-year transit funding for Canadian municipalities is matched by the provincial government. 
    • Completing the build-out of the Blue Line and the development of additional stops (infills) on the Red Line
    • Fully delivering the RouteAhead, Calgary’s 30-year strategic plan for public transit, and begin to scope out what the next 30 years will look like. 
    • Establishing the MainSteets and TOD Fund as part of the City of Calgary’s commitment to generational investment. This fund will help to ensure we build high-quality public spaces near parks, recreational amenities and vibrant main streets that are connected to transit stations and sustainable neighbourhoods. 
    • Establishing the Parks, Recreation and Culture Fund as part of the City of Calgary’s commitment to generational investment. This fund will make certain the Green Line connects parks and outdoor recreational activities to vibrant, sustainable neighbourhoods so it will be an actual ‘green’ line.

  • I believe upstream flood and drought mitigation is the single biggest investment we must make to ensure our city’s long-term prosperity. 

    If re-elected, I am committed to advocating for the following: 

    • Ensuring the SR1 project on the Elbow River gets built as currently funded and approved. 
    • Working to make certain the Ghost Lake Reservoir expansion on the Bow River becomes an approved and funded project. 
    • Continuing to take an active leadership role on the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee on Council to ensure alignment between the City, the Region, the Province, and the Government of Canada regarding all upstream planning, approvals, funding and construction of flood and drought mitigation measures.
    • Continuing to identify, fund and build local flood protection interventions along the river, like the completed Inglewood Flood Protection Berm and the $20M flood protection project for the Calgary Zoo.
    • Continuing to advocate for better flood protection as required throughout Ward 9’s riverbanks, such as Beaver Dam Flats.

  • I believe we must address Calgary's mental health and addictions crises to ensure that we can all rise together

    If re-elected, I am committed to advocating for the following: 

    • Establishing the Community Safety Investment Framework Fund as part of the City of Calgary’s commitment to generational investment.
    • Transforming our 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year crisis response system into one that responds to mental health and addictions issues with experts including counsellors and social workers.
    • Funding the Mental Health and Addictions Strategy, that addresses both prevention and response, which was passed by Council in the previous term.
    • Investing in making the city more accessible and livable for everyone through projects like a washroom dignity policy that balances increasing public restrooms with janitorial services for private washrooms that are open to the public.

    • Continuing to push for aging in place solutions, like the Laneway Housing Pilot Project, the Jack Long Foundation’s ElderHouse, and Silvera for Seniors’ mission to better integrate their senior residents into surrounding communities and supports.
    • Expanding support services for seniors through investments in ‘next-gen’ community facilities.
    • Ensuring transit remains affordable, accessible and reliable, including the low-income transit pass.

    • Continuing to support small businesses through pandemic interruptions.
    • Continuing to reduce and improve city regulatory processes with the goal of making Calgary the best place in Canada to open a small business. 
    • Continuing to adjust the share of the tax responsibility borne by small businesses and advocating for a generational overhaul of Calgary’s revenue collection system to ensure greater fairness for all taxpayers.
    • Continuing to pilot emerging market solutions and support commercial start-ups for Ward 9 entrepreneurs, from Maker Spaces, through the creation of the craft brewing industry and other agribusiness opportunities, the expansion of the film, technology, and creative industries to the development of alternative waste and energy innovations.
    • Establishing the MainStreets and TOD Fund and the Downtown Revitalization Fund as part of the City of Calgary’s commitment to generational investment to support our small business community.

  • I believe that a thriving arts and culture sector is vital to our economic recovery and our best future.

    If re-elected, I am committed to advocating for the following

    • Maintaining the funding for Arts organizations that we established in the previous term (which nearly doubled our previous commitment) and depoliticizing this commitment so it is a business process that is:
      • Benchmarked against our peers (so we maintain our leadership position in Arts funding among other Canadian cities). 
      • Indexed against inflation (so it maintains its impact in supporting our arts and culture sector).
    • Funding the Eventful City Strategy, which is designed to streamline the City of Calgary’s ability to bring arts, culture, festivals and events, big and small, to Calgarians in every corner of the city. 
    • Developing a major outdoor festival venue in the form of a regional park in Millican-Ogden, which will be easily accessible through the Green Line. 
    • Establishing the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Fund as part of the City of Calgary’s commitment to generational investment. This fund will help to develop new East Calgary ‘next-gen’ recreation spaces with cultural centres in the communities of Greater Forest Lawn and Renfrew.
    • Beginning to plan and fund the second phase of the Arts Commons revitalization project.

    • Planning for the conversion of Renfrew Athletic Park into a ‘next-gen’ recreational facility for inner NE communities.
    • Increasing development of other amenities across Ward 9 including basketball courts, dedicated pickleball facilities, pump tracks, disc golf courses, Wiffleball fields, dog parks and a standing surf wave.
    • Implementing an Artificial Turf Playing Field program for our most loved (and most used) areas to ensure lower maintenance costs and broader year-round usability.
    • Continuing to invest in the Harvie Passage and follow the recommendations outlined by the newly struck Harvie Passage Task Force for improved management of the area.

  • I believe that investing in a regional rail network will help ensure Calgary’s prosperity, sustainability and world-class quality of life long into the future. 

    If re-elected, I am committed to advocating for the following: 

    • Developing a regional rail line between Calgary and Banff as a first step towards regional and provincial high-frequency passenger rail.
    • Working to coordinate Federal, Provincial, and Regional governments, agencies including the Canada Infrastructure Bank, as well as private investors through the City’s Intergovernmental Affairs Committee.
    • Continuing to steward relationships with community leaders along the Bow Valley Corridor to ensure that Calgary-Banff rail project has economic, social and environmental benefits for all communities along the route.
    • Developing next steps towards the delivery of plans to support a regional and provincial high-frequency passenger rail system.
    • Ensuring that all passenger rail projects are leveraged to improve our wildlife protection measures, particularly within the Mountain Parks.

  • I believe that affordable and accessible child care is vital to building an equitable city for everyone.

    • Exploring the role the City of Calgary can play in improving access to safe and affordable child care, this includes working with the Federal government on potential funding opportunities.
    • Ensuring child care is available at all City of Calgary engagements so no one has to miss out on important community-building activities.

  • In order to rise together, I believe we must increase the diversity and affordability of Calgary’s housing supply so that every Calgarian is ensured a great place to call home. 

    If re-elected, I am committed to advocating for the following: 

    • Supporting local area plans that promote a diversity of housing options in every Ward 9 neighbourhood, from heritage preservation, through a variety of lower-density forms, to vibrant, transit-oriented town centres.
    • Removing regulatory barriers and reducing process timelines so the private sector is able to deliver an increased supply of diverse, market-based housing options. 
    • Continuing to support the not-for-profit sector in delivering a wide variety of affordable housing options through ongoing partnerships with other orders of government and continuing to make City of Calgary land available for purchase to these groups. 
    • Facilitating the conversion of lands owned by not-for-profit actors and communities of faith to include affordable housing opportunities, such as the new affordable family housing at the Ogden United Church. 
    • Developing a plan to deliver the 15,000 units of affordable housing required in Calgary.
